On your mark, get set, go… the Niagara Falls International Marathon will bring thousands of runners from across the globe to Niagara Falls Sunday October 24, 2010.
The 13th annual Fall event is the only destination marathon that is hosted by two countries, with participants crossing an international border. Runners participating in the full marathon will take the start in Buffalo New York at the Albright Knox Museum running the first 6.5km along the Buffalo Parkway before crossing into Fort Erie and continuing along the scenic Niagara Parkway to the finish line in Niagara Falls Ontario CANADA. The course which is considered flat and fast is a qualifier for the iconic Boston Marathon and has hosted the USA men’s Olympic marathon trials twice.
This year, event organizers have added a two person relay with each runner completing a half marathon. The 1812 Peace and Friendship Marathon Relay runs the full marathon course from Buffalo to Niagara Falls. Additionally, this event hosts a half marathon run, half marathon walk, school marathon challenge, hand crank marathon and 10km & 5km runs.
The Falls Avenue Resort is continuing its participation in Niagara Falls International Marathon events, with a Runners Breakfast at Planet Hollywood sponsored by Tim Horton’s, and the annual Saturday night Pasta Party at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Niagara Falls-Fallsview. The Crowne Plaza will also serve as a departure point for runners with shuttles to the starting line leaving from the hotel.
